The Tanzania Wildlife Tour can be combined with our Kenya Highlights Wildlife Safari.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN TANZANIA – ARUSHA

Our Tanzania Wildlife Tour will start in Tanzania’s tourism capital, Arusha. We shall arrive via the Kilimanjaro Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Arusha, where we shall check in.

DAY 2: ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK – MT. MERU

We shall enjoy a day in the spectacular Arusha National Park. Here we shall drive some sections of the park, and also alight on foot in designated areas. Kilimanjaro are visible on clear days.

Common mammals include Guereza Colobus, Bushbuck, Common Waterbuck, Common Zebra, Maasai Giraffe and Olive Baboon. The local craters and momella lakes are an amazing sight; and always a highlight on the Tanzania Wildlife Tours.

Night in Arusha.

DAY 3 AND 4: MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK

We shall leave early and head to the beautiful and less-explored Mkomazi National Park. On the way we shall keep an eye for Mt. Kilimanjaro, to our left. This afternoon, we shall enjoy game drives in Mkomazi National Park, where many dryland animals will be awaiting us. The towering Pare Mountains to the North-East and West Usambara Mountains to the South-East bracket the ecosystem forming a beautiful landscape mosaic. This exciting place is a unique destination on our Tanzania Wildlife Tours.

The following day, we shall enjoy full day safari drives and photography in the mighty Mkomazi National Park. This amazing park is home to Black Rhino, African Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, African Wild Dog, Common Zebra, African Buffalo, Maasai Giraffe, Yellow Baboon, Savannah Elephant, Lesser Kudu, Fringe-eared Oryx, Gerenuk, Aardwolf, Common Eland and Common Impala. We shall spend the afternoon in Moshi or West Kilimanjaro, and we shall keep our eyes peeled for a sighting of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s peaks. The best views are often in the sunset and sunrise hours; and we shall maximise this time looking for a photo opportunity. This is always a highlight on our Tanzania Wildlife Tours.

Night in Moshi or Ndarakwai Ranch.

DAY 6 AND 7: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

The Tanzania Wildlife Tour will then head straight to Tarangire National Park. We shall enjoy game drives in this magical park. Named after Tarangire River, this park is indeed interesting and renowned for its high density of Elephants, beautiful Baobab trees and scenic Termite Mounds.

We shall enjoy game drives in the open savannah grasslands where many animals graze peacefully. We shall also enjoy driving along the mighty Tarangire River, where animals congregate for water. The expansive Tarangire Swamp is also a great site for wildlife viewing.

Nights at Tarangire.

DAY 8: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK – THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY AND COFFEE TOUR

On this day, we shall enjoy Lake Manyara, a pristine soda lake in the Rift Valley. The local Baobab trees will illuminate our journey through this lowland region.

At Lake Manyara we see lots of birds and during good time, lots of flamingos. The local game is mainly composed of monkeys; with Manyara having one of the highest densities of baboons globally. Others include Savannah Elephants, Lions and much more. The lions of Lake Manyara National Park are very famous for their habit of climbing on trees. This has earned them the nick-name “tree-climbing lions”. Along the swamps next to Lake Manyara, huge schools of hippos often congregate to shelter from the hot sun.

In the afternoon we shall enjoy a coffee tour around Karatu. Here we learn about the growing of our famous Tanzanian coffee guided by a professional local guide.

Night in Karatu.

DAY 9: NGORONGORO CRATER

We shall then proceed to Ngorongoro Crater, a prime location on our Tanzania Wildlife Tours. This is a large and scenic crater located at about 2000m above sea level. We shall have an opportunity to learn about the crater and also view models of the entire area. This crater is about 600m deep and has an amazing view both from the top and inside the crater. The crater is nestled in a pristine natural forest, full of beautiful indigenous trees. It is known as one of the wonders of Africa. Descending down the crater floor takes you through great scenery and you get to experience the local Euphorbia tree varieties.

Herds of wild animals are plenty inside the crater as well as wonderful views of the crater walls. Look out for the local Lions, Cheetah, Black Rhinos, Common Zebras, assorted Gazelles, Nile Hippos and Wildebeests.

We shall spend the most of this day in the crater, enjoying the local wildlife. Later in the afternoon, we shall head to our lodge.

Night in Karatu.

DAY 10 AND 11: NDUTU PLAINS AND LAKE NDUTU; VIA OL DUVAI GORGE MUSEUM

We shall then make our way to a phenomenal pre-historic site, the Ol Duvai or Ol Dupai gorge. This site has led to multiple archaeological and paleontological discoveries; and is often a highlight on our Tanzania Wildlife Tours. Home to the great work by Louis and Mary Leakey, this is a phenomenal destination. Some famous discoveries here include Zinjanthropus, Homo habilis and Homo erectus. You will get to learn all about the work going on at the site in a very interactive way.

We shall then spend time enjoying wildlife safari drives around the vast Ndutu Plains. We shall be hoping for many mammals and beautiful birds’ species here. We shall also visit the shores of Lake Ndutu, which is always a great site for our Tanzania Wildlife Tours.

Ndutu plains are where the annual Wildebeest migration starts, by thousands of females calving on these plains. These plains host exciting wildlife at all times of the year and often forms a highlight on all Tanzania Wildlife Tours. Mammals here include Leopards, Thompson’s Gazelles, Grant’s Gazelles and Cheetahs. Birds include Kori Bustard, Martial Eagle and Secretarybird.
