KENYA SAFARI CHARTER

Trip duration

12 days/ 11 nights

The Kenya Safari Charter can be combined with our Southern Tanzania Wildlife Safari.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN KENYA – NAIROBI

Our Kenya Safari Charter will start in Kenya’s tourism capital, Nairobi. We shall arrive via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Nairobi, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Nairobi. The city has a national park at its edge, making it one of the most special conservation cities globally. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Nairobi weather from our lodge; preparing for the Kenya Safari Charter.

Night in Nairobi.

DAY 2 AND 3: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – MIGHTY ELEPHANTS AT THE FOOTHILLS OF MT. KILIMANJARO

Taking a morning flight, the Kenya Safari Charter continues to the exciting Amboseli National Park, where a great safari adventure awaits. This amazing place is regarded as one of Kenya’s Premium Parks, and is located at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park is graced by mighty Savannah Elephants, and hosts the longest and most-famous elephant research program in the entire World. We shall have a chance to meet this great research team and learn all about their work.

The mammals here are great indeed (including African Lion, Cheetah, Grant’s Gazelle, Nile Hippo, Yellow Baboon, Serval, Caracal, African Civet, Common Warthog, Blue Wildebeest and Maasai Giraffe); and we shall take time to enjoy them. The local birds are great and we shall be hoping to enjoy many species like Lesser Flamingo and Kori Bustard.

Nights in Amboseli.

DAY 4 AND 5: MERU NATIONAL PARK – COMPLETE WILDERNESS

Our Kenya Safari Charter then proceeds on another flight to Meru National Park. We shall enjoy game drives in this beautiful park located in Northern Kenya; and bathed by the mighty Tana River and its tributaries. This is one of the least-visited hidden gems of Kenya and arguably the least-explored national parks of modern time.

Enjoy tracking White Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Cheetah, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Savannah Elephant, African Lion and Leopard; across the vast Meru National Park. This park was also the former home of the famous Joy and George Adamson- of the “Born Free” book and film.

Our safari guide will help you enjoy this unique place as you learn the history of Kenya’s conservation. The local Baobab trees will illuminate our journey through this great place. Local birds include Somali Ostrich, White-bellied Go-away-bird and Eastern Yellow-billed Hornbill. Indeed, Meru National Park is always a key highlight on all our Kenya Safari Charters.

Nights in Meru.

DAY 6, 7 AND 8: LAKE TURKANA – JADE SEA; INSIDE THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY

We shall then enjoy a flight to Lake Turkana, arriving in time for some afternoon relaxation by the lake shores. Lake Turkana is a 250 kilometres-long lake, making it the largest desert lake in the World. It is the Northernmost member of the Kenyan “Great Rift Valley Lakes”. The lake and its national parks are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also known as Lake Rudolf. The name Jade Sea comes from the blue-green colour of the lake’s water. The lake has three islands namely North Island, Central Island and South Island. The first is inhabited by people, while the latter two are national parks.

We shall spend the next day exploring the area. We shall enjoy an educational visit to the Turkana Basin Initiative, where we learn about the archeology and paleontology work being done here – a popular highlight on all our Kenya Safari Charters. Turkana is considered the “cradle of mankind” and has led to many discoveries from Richard Leakey and other visiting Scientists. On the way, you will enjoy learning about the local sites and landscapes. You will stop briefly at the standing stones of Namorutunga, a Turkana cultural site believed to be over 2,000 years old. We shall also visit a local Turkana Village, where you will interact with the local community members and learn about their culture.

Then we spend a day exploring the scenic Central Island National Park, one of the most beautiful locations on our Kenya Safari Charters. Central Island is nicknamed the “gem of Lake of Turkana”. You will enjoy a leisurely walk here together with a wildlife ranger, who will help you navigate the island. Depending on the available amount of time, you may choose to visit the Flamingo Crater Lake, or the Crocodile Crater Lake, or the less-visited Tilapia Crater Lake. Here you will enjoy the pink flocks of flamingos. The island is also a breeding site for Nile Crocodiles; and is often famed as the World’s largest “Crocodile Nursery”.

Nights in Turkana.

DAY 9, 10 AND 11: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE – BOVID HERDS AND PREDATORS

We shall then take another flight to the mighty Masai Mara National Reserve. Renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, which is often regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, Masai Mara National Reserve is the crown of our Kenya Safari Charters.

Considered the ultimate wildlife haven in Kenya and arguably the best safari destination in Africa, Masai Mara has a lot to offer. From all members of the Big 5 (African Lion, Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Leopard, Savannah Elephant) to the numerous herbivores grazing the landscape in huge herds, Masai Mara is indeed amazing. Local birds include Martial Eagle, Secretarybird and Southern Ground Hornbill.

You will spend the next days learning about this magical destination with our safari guide. Enjoy interesting game drives as you track the Big 5, the Big Cats- Lion, Cheetah and Leopard and much more. The predators of Masai Mara are very popular on our Kenya Safari Charters.

There will be a scheduled Maasai Village visit on one day- this is one of Africa’s best preserved cultures and you will have a chance to learn about their way of life. This is a popular activity on our Kenya Safari Charters.

Nights in Mara.

DAY 12: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE TO NAIROBI

On this day, we shall enjoy an early morning game drive in Masai Mara. We shall then fly to Nairobi, cruising over the Rift Valley.

Later, we head to the international airport for our flights home; marking the end to our lovely Kenya Safari Charter.
