The Luxury East Africa Photography Safari can be combined with our Zanzibar Beach Holiday.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – NAIROBI, THE AFRICAN SAFARI CAPITAL

Our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari will start in Kenya’s tourism capital, Nairobi. We shall arrive via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Nairobi, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Nairobi. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Nairobi weather from our lodge; preparing for the great Luxury East Africa Photography Safari.

DAY 2, 3 AND 4: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – MIGHTY ELEPHANTS AT THE FOOTHILLS OF MT. KILIMANJARO

We shall then drive South to Amboseli National Park, where the Luxury East Africa Photography Safari adventure continues. This amazing place is regarded as one of Kenya’s Premium Parks, and is located at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park is graced by mighty Savannah Elephants, and hosts the longest and most famous elephant research program in the entire World.

The mammals here are great indeed (including African Lions, Cheetah, Caracal, Yellow Baboon, Blue Wildebeest and Maasai Giraffe); and we shall take time to enjoy them. The local birds are great and we shall be hoping to enjoy many species; such as African Fish Eagle, Great White Pelican and Lesser Flamingo.

We shall enjoy photography game drives every morning and afternoon. We shall take a break at midday for lunch and to download photos.

DAY 5, 6 AND 7: MASAI MARA – BOVID HERDS AND PREDATORS GALORE

We shall then fly to Masai Mara; where our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari adventure continues. Renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, which is often regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, Masai Mara is the crown of our Luxury East Africa Photography Safaris. Considered the ultimate wildlife haven in Kenya and arguably the best safari destination in Africa, Masai Mara has a lot to offer.

We shall enjoy safari drives as we seek the numerous herbivores grazing the landscape in huge herds. We shall also track the Big Cats- Lion, Cheetah and Leopard; hyenas, jackals and much more. Masai Mara is indeed a top destination for predators and this experience is always a highlight on all our Luxury East Africa Photography Safaris. Highlight birds include Kori Bustard and Secretarybird.

We have several options for our base camp here. Depending on your interests and time of the year, we can choose to stay at:- Mara North Conservancy or Mara Naboisho Conservancy or Olare Matorogi Conservancy.

DAY 8, 9, 10 AND 11: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – ENDLESS PLAINS AND BIG GAME

Our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari will then continue to the amazing Serengeti National Park; by a local flight across the border. We shall enjoy photography safari drives in this wonderful park as we enjoy the scenery of these vast plains.

We shall spend time looking around some of the famous rock outcrops, often referred as Kopjes. Look out for animals such as Leopard, Cheetah, Serval, Caracal, Cape Buffalo, assorted Gazelles, Maasai Giraffe, Blue Wildebeest, Common Zebras, Savannah Elephant and African Lion.

Here you shall also get an opportunity to learn all about the famous Serengeti migration and get to follow in the steps of the Wildebeests in a lovely Kopje rock, modelled to imitate the migration cycle.

DAY 12: ARUSHA TO KIGALI – LAND OF A THOUSAND HILLS

We shall enjoy a morning safari drive in Serengeti as we seek more big game for our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari list. Our focus will be on any species we need to get more photos of; or sunrise images.

We shall then enjoy a flight from Tanzania to Rwanda; where our next leg of the Luxury East Africa Photography Safari will continue. Rwanda is a famous country for her Mountain Gorillas; and these will be a key highlight on our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari. Rwanda is often called “the land of a thousand hills” owing to the many hills all across the country.

We shall enjoy a relaxed evening in Kigali- as we enjoy one of the cleanest cities in Africa.

DAY 13: KIGALI TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After a relaxed morning around Kigali, we shall proceed on our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari to the phenomenal Volcanoes National Park area; which forms part of the vast Virunga Mountains ecosystem.

This afternoon, we shall enjoy photographing local cultural dancers, as we relax in the highlands of Rwanda. The mighty mountains of the Volcanoes National Park will be visible towering across the horizon; and we shall enjoy some landscape photos.

DAY 14: MOUNTAIN GORILLAS TREKKING IN VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Departing our lodge with packed lunch, we shall head to Kinigi Park headquarters, where the gorilla trek will take place. We shall all meet for a briefing from the local rangers. This day is definitely the most interesting part of our Luxury East Africa Photography Safaris. We shall then venture into the forest following nice trails.

Soon enough, we shall meet our “hosts” for the day- the majestic Mountain Gorillas. This is the climax of our Luxury East Africa Photography Safari. Sometimes the hike takes longer depending on the local movements of these great apes; who live a very natural lifestyle in this great forest. We shall spend time enjoying the great apes and making the best photos. Most gorilla families are well composed with a dominant male (silverback), several females and young.

Note:- Flash photography is not allowed when watching gorillas, as they often get disturbed by the flashing lights from cameras. Prime lenses are encouraged on this day, and our safari team will be happy to share advise on the expected light conditions in the forests, to help you plan well.

We shall then hike back to our starting point and return to our lodge for a relaxed afternoon.

DAY 15: VOLCANOES HIGHLANDS TO KIGALI

On this day we shall head to Kigali after a relaxed morning at our lodge. We shall enjoy the nice roadside views as we cruise back towards the capital of Rwanda, Kigali. On the roadsides, we often meet many bicycle and motorcycle riders; carrying passengers from one location to the next. Sometimes these bicycles are laden with a local brew known as the banana beer.

Evening flights from Kigali will mark the end to our exciting Luxury East Africa Photography Safari.
