KENYA WILDLIFE SAFARI BY AIR

Trip duration

10 days/ 9 nights

The Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air can be combined with our Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – NAIROBI, KENYA

Our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air will start in Kenya’s tourism capital, Nairobi. We shall arrive via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Nairobi, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Nairobi. The city has a national park at its edge, making it one of the most special conservation cities globally. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Nairobi weather from our lodge.

Night in Nairobi.

DAY 2: NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK AND GIRAFFE CENTRE

We shall spend the morning in this special urban park enjoying the local wildlife; and learning conservation topics led by our safari guide. We shall leave the hotel early and head straight to the park, to allow an early morning start.

The wildlife here is amazing and all members of the Big 5 can be seen here on a game drive; except wild elephants. We shall look out for African Lions, Leopards, Nile Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, Maasai Giraffes and Common Zebras. The park provides a sanctuary for Black Rhinos and White Rhinos and these have made the park a special site for all rhino lovers.

The park is also Kenya’s oldest park and has been a famous location for its ivory burning site. This park is only 117 Km2 making it a great place to start our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air.

After lunch, we shall enjoy a visit to the Giraffe Centre. At the centre you will meet the lovely Rothschild’s Giraffes; which is a threatened species. You will learn about the breeding program and also about Giraffe Biology. You will also get an opportunity to feed the giraffes from your hand, hug and even kiss these lovely “Tall Blondes”.

Night in Nairobi.

DAY 3 AND 4: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

We shall then fly South to Amboseli National Park, where the Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air adventure continues. This amazing place is regarded as one of Kenya’s Premium Parks, and is located at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park is graced by mighty Savannah Elephants, and hosts the longest and most famous elephant research program in the entire World.

The mammals here are great indeed (including Lions, Blue Wildebeest and Maasai Giraffe); and we shall take time to enjoy them. The local birds are great and we shall be hoping to enjoy many species.

Nights in Amboseli.

DAY 5 AND 6: SAMBURU AND BUFFALO SPRINGS NATIONAL RESERVES

From Amboseli, we shall head North, via a flying safari, crossing the Equator to Samburu. On this scenic flight, we may be lucky to spot the peaks of Mt. Kenya emerging through the clouds. Soon, we shall arrive at the beautiful Samburu National Reserve.

This spectacular reserve hosts some very unique wildlife such as the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe; most of which are not easy to find south of the Equator. We shall also explore the neighbouring Buffalo Springs National Reserve; a key location for our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air.

The mighty Ewaso Ng’iro North River meanders its way across these reserves giving life to this beautiful land. Local Doum Palms tangle their branches in the sky as if waving at the people, and provide the landscape with a beautiful touch. Enjoy tracking the local elephants and other members of the Big 5 on scenic game drives.

Nights in Samburu.

DAY 7, 8 AND 9: MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE

Our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air will continue on a flight to the mighty Masai Mara. Renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, which is often regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, Masai Mara National Reserve is the crown of an African safari experience. Considered the ultimate wildlife haven in Kenya, this reserve has a lot to offer.

From all members of the Big 5 (African Lion, Leopard, Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo and Savannah Elephant) to the numerous herbivores grazing the landscape in huge herds, this place is indeed amazing.

You will enjoy learning about this magical destination with our safari guide. Enjoy interesting game drives as you track the Big 5, the Big Cats and much more. We shall also keep an eye for antelopes like Common Impalas and gazelles like Thompson’s Gazelles. Local birds include Southern Ground Hornbill, Saddle-billed Stork, Lappet-faced Vulture and Kori Bustard.

Here you can also take part in an optional balloon ride across the beautiful Masai Mara plains. This is followed by a scrumptious breakfast and cocktail party; all set up in the bush, with great views of the Masai Mara. This is an exciting optional activity during our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air.

Nights in Masai Mara.

DAY 10: MASAI MARA TO NAIROBI

On this day, you will enjoy a leisurely morning in Masai Mara; seeking animals we may not have seen on the Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air. You will then take another flying safari over the Great Rift Valley, and onwards to Nairobi. Flying out of the Masai Mara is a very scenic view, as you enjoy looking at local traditional villages and landscapes.

On arrival, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for the international flight home; marking the end to our Kenya Wildlife Safari by Air.
