Sustainability and Conservation

As part of our Sustainability and Conservation work, we support projects in our safari destinations here in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. Each safari you take with us contributes to our sustainability and conservation projects and we are very grateful to you. Further, you can contribute in both monetary and in-kind donations to our projects. We welcome donations towards any of our programmes listed below. Your contributions go a long way in helping us change the World, through conservation. Thank you very much for your continued support.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME

Our safaris contribute to environmental awareness programmes in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. We support the Youth Conservation Awareness Program (YCAP), a local non-profit founded by our Director. The program aims to help nurture a generation of youth who care for the environment. A portion of our profits and sales are directly channeled towards environmental awareness activities run by YCAP, through our Sustainability Department.

KENYA WOMEN BIRDERS CLUB

The Kenya Women Birders Club is a group of passionate women who are being trained in a series of programs to equip them with skills to become professional bird guides. We are partnering with Cisticola Tours LTD, Uganda Women Birders and Rwanda Women Birders. The plan is to have an East African group of women birders who can lead birding tour groups and research groups.

CREATE THAT SMILE

We believe that one good social act can change the World. Create That Smile (CTS) is a project we run as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. The project involves traveling to underprivileged communities across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda; and running a series of free safaris with our top tour guides and photographers. In other communities, we visit underprivileged groups and donate basic needs like food and clothing. We then print all the photos taken during the tours/ visits and give them to the participants for free. The joy we create in each community that we interact with has kept us going each day. We hope to keep creating thousands of smiles on safari and visits all over Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

CONTRIBUTION TO CITIZEN-SCIENCE AND RELATED PROJECTS

Every time we are out in the field we make many records and take many photographs, some of very rare animals, plants or habitats. We continually share our data with, and donate our photos to different conservation organisations and projects here in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. We also share sightings of our animals and plants with citizen-science projects. These organisations and projects include:-

  1. Virtual Museum for Africa
  2. Kenya Bird Map
  3. Kenya Museum Society
  4. African Raptor DataBank
  5. East African Wildlife Society
  6. National Museums of Kenya
  7. Kenya Wildlife Service
  8. iNaturalist
  9. eBird
  10. Kenya Herpetofauna Working Group
