LUXURY TANZANIA SAFARI

Trip duration

10 days/ 9 nights

The Luxury Tanzania Safari can be combined with our Zanzibar Beach Holidays.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL FOR THE LUXURY TANZANIA SAFARI

Our Luxury Tanzania Safari will start in Tanzania’s tourism capital, Arusha. We shall arrive via the Kilimanjaro Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Arusha, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Arusha. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Arusha weather from our lodge; preparing for our Luxury Tanzania Safari.

Night in Arusha.

DAY 2 AND 3: LAKE MANYARA AND NGORONGORO CRATER – THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY

Today we fly to Manyara where our Luxury Tanzania Safari begins. We shall enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, at the edge of the Great Rift Valley. We shall be looking out for the local tree-climbing lions and primates. We hope to also enjoy flamingos and other birds along the lake shores.

We shall enjoy the next day at the beautiful Ngorongoro crater, which is always a highlight on our Luxury Tanzania Safaris. The mighty Ngorongoro is indeed an amazing place. It is known as one of the wonders of Africa. Descending down the crater floor takes you through great scenery and you get to experience the local Euphorbia tree varieties.

Herds of wild animals are plenty inside the crater as well as wonderful views of the crater walls. Look out for the local Lions, Black Rhinos, Common Zebras, Cheetah, assorted Gazelles, Nile Hippos and Wildebeests. This day is always a highlight on our Luxury Tanzania Safari.

Nights in Karatu.

DAY 4 AND 5: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

We shall enjoy a local flight to Serengeti National Park; where our Luxury Tanzania Safari continues. Here we enjoy game drives in this wonderful park as we enjoy the scenery of these vast plains. We shall spend time looking around some of the famous rock outcrops, often referred as Kopjes. Look out for animals such as Leopard, Cheetah, Cape Buffalo, assorted Gazelles, Maasai Giraffe, Wildebeest, Common Zebras, Savannah Elephant and Lions.

Here you shall also get an opportunity to learn all about the famous Serengeti migration and get to follow in the steps of the Wildebeests in a lovely Kopje rock, modelled to imitate the migration cycle. This is always a highlight on our Luxury Tanzania Safaris.

Nights in Serengeti.

DAY 6 AND 7: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

We shall enjoy another local flight to the mighty Ruaha National Park. Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania, and it always amazes on each visit. This is a great destination on our Luxury Tanzania Safari. Ruaha covers an area of about 13,000 square kilometres, spanning the heart of a more extensive ecosystem, which includes Rungwa Game Reserve, Usangu Game Reserve, and several other protected areas within Central Tanzania.

The park is named after the Great Ruaha River, which flows along its South-Eastern edge. This mighty river often forms the focus for game viewing, as it provides the lifeline to this great ecosystem. We shall hope for some special mammals, such as Sable Antelope and Roan Antelope. Other common mammals here include African Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Maasai Giraffe, Common Zebra, Common Eland, Common Impala and Bat-eared Fox.

We shall also spend time along the mighty Ruaha River, where wildlife often congregate for water. If we are really lucky we may spot the rare African Wild Dogs – a top favourite on all our Luxury Tanzania Safaris.

Nights at Ruaha.

DAY 8 AND 9: SELOUS GAME RESERVE

We shall then take a local flight to the incomparable Selous Game Reserve. This is a great highlight on our Luxury Tanzania Safaris. Selous is Africa’s largest game reserve and occupies an area of 50,000 square kilometres. The habitat is predominately Miombo Woodland; with sections of vast grasslands.

The mighty Rufiji River system flows from West to East cutting its way through the reserve. This beautiful river serves as a drainage from the mountains of the Udzungwa Escarpment and the nearby Mahenge Massif. This huge river is in turn fed by other rivers, including the Great Ruaha River and the Kilombero River from the West. From the South-West, three main rivers namely Luwegu, Luhombero and Mbarangandu also feed the Rufiji River. Also the Lukuiro complex drains the Kichi Hills to the East.

There will be many wildlife species here and we shall spend time looking for these. Mammals are abundant in Selous Game Reserve, but most notable species here are the Savannah Elephant, Common Zebra, Common Hippo, African Buffalo and African Lion. If we are lucky we shall spot the African Wild Dogs. The boat ride across the mighty Rufiji River is also a great experience. Indeed, Selous is always a top location on our Luxury Tanzania Safaris.

Nights at Selous.

DAY 10: SELOUS TO DAR ES SALAAM

We shall enjoy a relaxed morning at Selous. Later we continue our Luxury Tanzania Safari to the local airstrip, as we scan for additional wildlife.

We shall then take a flight to Dar es Salaam. Later, we take an airport transfer for the flights home- marking the end to our lovely Luxury Tanzania Safari.
