11 days/ 10 nights

The Kenyan Gems Safari can be combined with our Diani Beach Holidays.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – NAIROBI, THE AFRICAN SAFARI CAPITAL

Our Kenyan Gems Safari will start in Kenya’s tourism capital, Nairobi. We shall arrive via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Nairobi, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Nairobi. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Nairobi weather from our lodge; preparing for the amazing Kenyan Gems Safari.

Night in Nairobi.

DAY 2, 3 AND 4: CHYULU HILLS – FOOTHILLS OF MT. KILIMANJARO

Our Kenyan Gems Safari begins with a domestic flight to the scenic Chyulu Hills, located in Southern Kenya. Chyulu Hills are often referred as “the green hills of Africa” after the great book by Ernest Hemingway. Enjoy safari drives at the foothills of the World’s highest free-standing mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Here we explore the bush on guided game drives or on scenic horse riding treks. The landscapes and hospitality offered here is just amazing and leaves an impression on each visit.

The mammals here are great indeed (including African Lions, Savannah Elephants, Blue Wildebeest and Maasai Giraffe); and we shall take time to enjoy them. The local birds are great and we shall be hoping to enjoy many species such as Martial Eagle and Crested Francolin.

Another highlight on our Kenyan Gems Safaris is the night game drives offered here. Enjoy tracking some of the shy nocturnal species of the African bush with a professional safari guide.

Nights in Chyulu.

DAY 5, 6 AND 7: NORTHERN KENYA – RICH CULTURE, UNIQUE WILDLIFE AND DRAMATIC LANDSCAPES

Our Kenyan Gems Safari continues North, flying across the Equator into the serene Northern Kenya. Here we enjoy an African safari experience like no other. We get to immerse in natural unspoiled African landscapes; hosted by the beautiful Samburu people of Northern Kenya.

We shall embark on guided safari drives across this great landscape seeking local wildlife such as African Elephants, Greater Kudu, African Lions, Gunther’s Dikdik, Cheetahs and Leopards. This area is also famous for several special animals that do not occur further South of the Equator- Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra and Gerenuk. Highlight birds include Somali Ostrich and Vulturine Guineafowl.

Here we shall also enjoy guided bush walks and meals offered in the serene wilderness – a popular activity on all our Kenyan Gems Safaris. We have several options for our base camp here. Depending on your interests and time of the year, we can choose to stay at:- Sera Conservancy, Namunyak Conservancy, Mathews Range or Kalama Conservancy.

Nights in Sera or Kalama or Namunyak or Mathews Range.

DAY 8, 9 AND 10: MASAI MARA – BOVID HERDS AND PREDATORS GALORE

We shall then fly to Masai Mara; where our Kenyan Gems Safari adventure continues. Renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, which is often regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, Masai Mara is the crown of our Kenyan Gems Safaris. Considered the ultimate wildlife haven in Kenya and arguably the best safari destination in Africa, this place has a lot to offer.

We shall enjoy safari drives as we seek the numerous herbivores grazing the landscape in huge herds. We shall also track the Big Cats- Lion, Cheetah and Leopard; hyenas, jackals and much more. Masai Mara is indeed a top destination for predators and this experience is always a highlight on all our Kenyan Gems Safaris. Highlight birds include Kori Bustard and Secretarybird.

We shall also enjoy a guided Maasai Village visit on one morning or afternoon – this is one of Africa’s best preserved cultures and you will have a chance to learn all about their way of life. The cultural experience is a key highlight on our Kenyan Gems Safaris.

We have several options for our base camp here. Depending on your interests and time of the year, we can choose to stay at:- Mara North Conservancy or Mara Naboisho Conservancy or Olare Matorogi Conservancy.

Nights in Mara North or Mara Naboisho or Olare Matorogi.
