Day 1: Arrival for the Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari

We shall start our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari in Arusha, the tourism capital of Tanzania. Our Safari Guide will be ready to receive you at the Kilimanjaro Airport.

Arusha is a beautiful town located at the foothills of the mighty Mt. Meru- which in itself hosts a great national park, called Arusha National Park. From your hotel, or on the way there, you should be able to see Mt. Meru towering above the town.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Arusha. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Arusha weather from our lodge; as we prepare for the exciting Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari ahead.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

We shall leave early and proceed to the amazing Ngorongoro Crater where we begin the Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari. This is a large and scenic crater located at about 2000m above sea level. The local Baobab trees will illuminate our journey.

On arrival, we shall have an opportunity to learn about the crater and also view models of the entire area. This crater is about 600m deep and has an amazing view both from the top and inside the crater. The crater is nestled in a pristine natural forest, full of beautiful indigenous trees. It is known as one of the wonders of Africa; and a great start to our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.

Descending down the crater floor takes you through great scenery and you get to experience the local Euphorbia tree varieties. This area will offer great photography opportunities and we shall make the most of the day enjoying the local wildlife.

Herds of wild animals are plenty inside the crater as well as wonderful views of the crater walls. Look out for the local Lions, Black Rhinos, Common Zebras, assorted Gazelles, Nile Hippos and Wildebeests. We shall have packed lunch inside the crater; as we discuss our experiences during the Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.

Day 3, 4 and 5: Ndutu Plains – the crown of the Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari

We shall have an early start to this amazing region, where the major calving action will be taking place. This is the main playing ground of our mega Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.

This is often regarded as the starting point of the Great Wildebeest Migration, and these calves will later make a great journey through Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. They will then enter the neighbouring Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, before looping back into Tanzania. This endless cycle keeps rolling all year and forms the biggest wildlife spectacle on the African continent.

We shall spend the next days of our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari in this area enjoying the spectacle and taking advantage of the best photographic opportunities.

Our camps will be located in the same area enabling us more time in the field. We shall spend most of the mornings and afternoons on photography game drives to ensure we can maximise the best light quality. During the heat of the midday, we shall return to camp for lunch and downloading our images.

Day 6, 7 and 8: Serengeti National Park

We shall have then proceed to the magical Serengeti National Park. This is always a great place to enjoy during our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.

We shall be on the look out for animals such as Leopards, Cheetahs, Cape Buffalo, assorted Gazelles, Maasai Giraffe, Wildebeest, Common Zebras, Savannah Elephant and Lions. On all our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safaris, big game and predators are encountered in great numbers.

Day 9: Serengeti to Arusha

We shall spend this morning enjoying some more game drives in Serengeti National Park; seeking any animals we have still need on our Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.

Later in the afternoon, we shall return to Arusha for our flight home. This marks the end to our exciting Serengeti Wildebeest Calving Season Photography Safari.
