Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari

MASAI MARA WILDEBEEST MIGRATION SAFARI

Trip duration

6 days/ 5 nights (river crossing is more likely in July, August, September and October)

The Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari can be combined with our Mombasa Beach Holidays.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – NAIROBI, THE AFRICAN SAFARI CAPITAL

Our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari will start in Kenya’s tourism capital, Nairobi. We shall arrive via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where our Tour Leader will be ready to receive us and kick start our journey. We shall then head to our hotel in Nairobi, where we shall check in.

On this day, if we have an early arrival, we may explore local attractions around Nairobi. The city has a national park at its edge, making it one of the special conservation cities globally. Otherwise, we can relax and enjoy the nice Nairobi weather from our hotel; as we prepare for our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari.

Night in Nairobi.

DAY 2 AND 3: MARA TRIANGLE CONSERVANCY – THROUGH THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY

We shall cruise through the Great Rift Valley on our way to the mighty Masai Mara; where our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari takes place. Renowned for the annual wildebeest migration, which is often regarded as the 8th Wonder of the World, Masai Mara is a great safari destination.

Considered the ultimate wildlife haven in Kenya and arguably the best safari destination in Africa, Masai Mara has a lot to offer. From all members of the Big 5 (African Lion, Black Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Leopard, Savannah Elephant) to the numerous herbivores grazing the landscape in huge herds, Masai Mara is indeed amazing.

We shall enjoy safari drives in the Mara Triangle Conservancy, where we hope to connect with migrating herds of Wildebeests, Zebras and Gazelles. If we are lucky, we shall enjoy the river crossing – a popular experience during all Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safaris.

Nights in Mara.

DAY 4 AND 5: THE GREATER MARA – VAST PLAINS AND PREDATORS

We shall then cruise across the vast plains and drive to the Eastern side of the Greater Masai Mara. Here we shall cross the mighty Mara River and enjoy a different section of the ecosystem. The sight of the mighty Mara River is always a popular experience on all our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safaris. Here we shall continue tracking the large migrating herds of wildebeests, gazelles and zebras. We may also be lucky to see some river crossings along the three main rivers, namely Mara River, Talek River and Sand River.

We shall spend the next days of our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari learning about this magical destination with our safari guide. Enjoy interesting game drives as you track the Big Cats- Lion, Cheetah and Leopard. Other common mammals here include Topi, Common Eland, Maasai Giraffe, Nile Hippo and Oribi. Along the rivers, Nile Crocodiles patrol the shores seeking any slow mammals that they can catch for dinner.

Nights in Mara.

DAY 6: MASAI MARA TO NAIROBI

On this day, we shall enjoy an early morning game drive in the Mara; seeking more experiences and species we still need for our Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari. We shall then head to Nairobi, cruising across the Great Rift Valley.

Later, we head to the airport; marking the end to our lovely Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration Safari.
