Shimba Hills Day Tour
SHIMBA HILLS DAY TOUR
Shimba Hills National Park, a 300 square kilometres protected area within the coast region, is one of the best touristic spots in the Kenyan southern tip.
This area is famous for hosting the Sable Antelope, one of the most beautiful ungulates in Kenya. This has led Shimba Hills National Park to be nicknamed “paradise of the Sable Antelope”.
This park combines a good habitat as an extension from Kenya and Northern Tanzania, thus offering a good pool mix of mammals and birds species.
It is a great habitat for African Elephants, together with the neighboring Mwaluganje Forest. They exist together with African Buffaloes and Maasai Giraffes. Here you may also be lucky to find the Four-toed Elephant-shrew and Bushy-tailed Mongoose. The beautiful Red-bellied Bush Squirrel is also a common mammal here.
Other attractions in the park include the very scenic Sheldrick Falls, named after David Sheldrick; and the dense Mwaluganje Forest.
We shall leave early to maximise our time in Shimba Hills National Park. We shall enjoy picnic lunch at one of the sites within the park.
Later in the afternoon, we shall head back to our hotel.
