4 Nights Aberdares, Solio, Samburu and Buffalo Springs Safari

4 NIGHTS ABERDARES, SOLIO, SAMBURU AND BUFFALO SPRINGS SAFARI

Buffalo Springs Safari

DAY 1: ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK – MT. KENYA REGION

We shall enjoy game drives in the amazing Aberdare National Park; to kick-start our 4 Nights Aberdares, Solio, Samburu and Buffalo Springs Safari. This Park runs the expanse of a majestic mountain range on the eastern edge of the Rift Valley. The park has a great stretch of alpine moorland vegetation, mainly above 3,000m. This great landscape has led to the park’s nick-name:- “The Majestic Moorland”.

There is a thick tropical forest, with deep ravines and dissecting riverine gorges. At certain areas, these rivers form majestic waterfalls, which leave a sight to be desired. Many animals occupy this beautiful place and species of mammals such as African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Bush Duiker, Common Bushbuck and Giant Forest Hog can be expected.

Night at Aberdares.

DAY 2: SOLIO RANCH AND GAME RESERVE – RHINOS, RHINOS AND MORE RHINOS

Solio Ranch and Game Reserve will be our next destination on the 4 Nights Aberdares, Solio, Samburu and Buffalo Springs Safari. Solio Ranch and Game Reserve is located within the vast Laikipia region. Solio Ranch (45,000 acres) is an amazing savannah nestled between Mt. Kenya and Aberdare Ranges; and both mountains are clearly visible from Solio on clear days. This ranch hosts a combination of both savannah woodlands and savannah grasslands, forming a scenic mosaic of wildlife habitats. The riverine vegetation meandering through the plains provides a great habitat for mammals to rest off and refresh in the cool Laikipia waters.

Solio Game Reserve, set up in 1970, is an amazing 19,000 acres allocated for the protection of rhinos. Both Black Rhinos and White Rhinos interact harmoniously in this great place. Solio ranch has the largest population of White Rhinos in the entire World. The rhinos bred here are often translocated into other conservation areas across the African continent. Other mammals here include African Lion, Spotted Hyena, Common Impala, Leopard, Cheetah and Cape Buffalo.

Highlight birds here include African Crowned Eagle, Grey Crowned Crane, White-bellied Bustard and Long-tailed Widowbird.

Night at Aberdares.

DAY 3 AND 4: SAMBURU AND BUFFALO SPRINGS NATIONAL RESERVES – THE SPECIAL 5 ANIMALS

This spectacular place hosts some very unique wildlife such as the Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra and Reticulated Giraffe; most of which are not easy to find south of the Equator. We shall also explore the neighbouring Buffalo Springs National Reserve. This area is home to the Samburu tribe, and the neighbouring Turkana tribe. The cultural experience here is a highlight on our 4 Nights Aberdares, Solio, Samburu and Buffalo Springs Safaris.

The mighty Ewaso Ng’iro North River meanders its way across these reserves giving life to this beautiful land. Local Doum Palms tangle their branches in the sky as if waving at the people, and provide the landscape with a beautiful touch. Enjoy time in Samburu and Buffalo Springs tracking the local elephants and other members of the Big 5 on your safari drives.

Nights in Samburu.
