Lake Manyara National Park Day Tour

LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK DAY TOUR

Lake Manyara National Park Day Tour

Leaving Arusha early in the morning, we shall carry on to Lake Manyara National Park, where some great mammals and birds will be awaiting us. This park occupies an area of 330 square kilometres. From the entrance gate, you pass through a pristine forest that is nurtured by small streams flowing from underground springs. As you drive deeper into the park, you come across more open savannah woodland and patchy scrubland.

Lake Manyara, a pristine 200 square kilometres soda lake in the Rift Valley, is found below the Mto Wa Mbu Escarpment. Ernest Hemmingways, after seeing this lake, commented that it was the loveliest he had seen in Africa.

Here we shall see lots of birds and during good time, lots of Greater and Lesser Flamingos are seen in the soda waters.

The local game is mainly composed of monkeys. These will be in plenty, highly dominated by Olive Baboons. Other monkey species here include Syke’s Monkeys and Vervet Monkeys. We shall also keep an eye out for other mammals including Savannah Elephants, famous tree-climbing Lions and much more. If lucky, you may spot a Klipspringer walking along the rocky cliff faces.

We shall enjoy our picnic lunch at one of the local sites within the Lake Manyara National Park.

Later in the afternoon, we shall exit the park and head back to your hotel in Arusha, marking the end to our Lake Manyara National Park Day Tour.
