Arusha National Park Day Tour

ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK DAY TOUR

Arusha National Park Day Tour

Leaving early, we shall enjoy a day trip to Arusha National Park. Here we shall drive some sections of the park, and also walk at designated areas.

Arusha National Park is 542 square kilometres of pure beauty. This park has a great highland forest nestled around Mt. Meru; where Black-and-white Colobus Monkeys and Ochre Bush Squirrels roam gracefully. Mt. Meru is Africa’s fifth highest mountain, at 4,566 metres above sea level. From the park, on a clear day, you may be able to spot Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Many highland bird species can be expected here including the Silvery-cheeked Hornbill, African Emerald Cuckoo and Scaly Francolin.

The scenic Ngurdoto Crater located at the heart of this forest is also a beautiful site worth visiting. At the floor of the crater is an amazing marshy swamp; often inhabited by African Buffaloes and Common Warthogs. In the open areas herds of Common Zebras and Waterbucks may be encountered. If lucky, you will spot African Elephants, Spotted Hyenas or Leopard.

From here you can also enjoy visiting the beautiful Momela Lakes, where the local birdlife is always a spectacle. These lakes are a series of depressions and depending on the composition, each lake has a different hue of blue or green. At certain times of the year, these lakes are full of pink flocks of Lesser Flamingos.

Later in the afternoon, we shall exit the park and head back to your hotel; marking the end to our great Arusha National Park Day Tour.
