We shall drive to Mt. Longonot National Park, where the hike will take place. Before starting the hike, you may encounter beautiful animals such as Maasai Giraffes, Thompson’s Gazelles, Common Impalas and Common Zebras on your way. There will also be amazing views of the vast Great Rift Valley.

Mt. Longonot is a moderately high mountain (2,776 metres altitude) and can be comfortably done in one day. Our hiking safari guide will lead you up the mountain and you will enjoy lessons about the area and the formation of the volcano. The volcano is considered extinct and you will enjoy views of the crater and the side cone lets around the main volcano.

Later we drive to the nearby Lake Naivasha for a relaxed evening.

DAY 2: LAKE NAIVASHA AND HELLS GATE NATIONAL PARK

Lake Naivasha is one of the two major fresh water lakes in the mighty Rift Valley of Kenya, the other one being Lake Baringo. The lake also boasts one of the highest altitudes of all Rift Valley lakes. It is also a Ramsar Site- a wetland of international importance. Lake Naivasha is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and the local birds will always amaze even a casual birder.

We shall enjoy a boat ride to help appreciate the beauty of the lake and see more wildlife and birds. Keep an eye for the local Nile Hippos in the water. Thompson’s Gazelles, Blue Wildebeests, Defassa Waterbucks, African Buffalo and Maasai Giraffes often feed along the shores.

From here, we head to Hell’s Gate National Park. Here you will enjoy learning some interesting geology aspects, geothermal energy production, as well as cliff-nesting birds. You will also enjoy a game drive in the park looking out for Common Eland, Common Warthog, Grant’s Gazelle, Maasai Giraffe and Common Zebra.

At Hell’s Gate National Park, you may also enjoy some more optional activities such as follows (please let us know which activities your prefer; and our safari team will help you add the extra experiences to your tour):-

  1. Bicycle riding inside the park
  2. Rock climbing at the beautiful Fischer’s Tower
  3. Hell’s Gate Gorge hike
  4. Geothermal Spa swimming

DAY 3: LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

We shall continue our safari to the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park; for a full day experience. The park is known for the mighty Lake Nakuru, a soda lake at the heart of the great ecosystem. This park is also a great sanctuary for rhinos and these may be encountered on our game drives.

The local birds make the park special too, and it is often referred as the birdwatcher’s paradise. Enjoy the large herds of herbivores, especially the local Cape Buffaloes among many other spectacular wildlife species. The landscapes here are very rewarding as well.
